Umiaq Design, a division of Ukpea?vik Iupiat Corporation (UIC), is seeking an experienced AutoCAD Technician to join our growing civil and mechanical engineering design department. This position is based in Anchorage, Alaska, and involves working on a variety of projects throughout the state. The AutoCAD Technician will play a crucial role in the development of design drawings that meet project requirements and adhere to company standards. Typical projects include the design of water and sewer systems, facility site development, landfill and sewer lagoon projects, roads and pads, and bulk fuel systems. The role may also involve survey support, developing plats, as-built drawings, and easement documents. As an AutoCAD Technician, you will collaborate with a team of other technicians under the guidance of the Engineering Department Manager. Your responsibilities will include preparing preliminary designs based on criteria provided by engineers, incorporating red-line changes to drawings, and maintaining organized and up-to-date drawing files. Attention to detail and strong organizational skills are essential for success in this role, as is the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. The position requires proficiency in AutoCAD Architecture Engineering & Construction Collection and the ability to interpret survey data, maps, and graphical data. While GIS software experience is preferred, it is not mandatory. The successful candidate will be expected to work at a computer for extended periods, typically 8 hours or more per day, and must be able to lift rolls or boxes of paper weighing up to 25 lbs. The work environment is a no-smoking office setting, and all employees must comply with UIC's drug and alcohol testing programs.
