About the position
This position is part of a federal internship program aimed at students pursuing degrees in engineering. The internship allows students to gain practical experience while completing their educational requirements. Interns may work either part-time or full-time and will be involved in tasks related to their academic career goals. The program is administered by each hiring agency, which may hire interns on a temporary basis for up to one year or for an indefinite period. Interns may be converted to permanent positions upon successful completion of the program and meeting specific requirements.
Responsibilities
- Perform duties related to the intern's academic career goals or field of study.
- Complete at least 480 hours of work experience acquired through the Internship Program.
- Meet agency-specific requirements as specified in the Participant's Agreement.
Requirements
- Current students in an accredited high school, college, or other qualifying educational institution.
- Completion of specific academic hours based on the GS level: GS-3 requires 30 semester hours, GS-4 requires 60 semester hours or an associate's degree, GS-5 requires 120 semester hours leading to a bachelor's degree.
- A minimum GPA above 2.0.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in volunteer work through National Service programs.
- Prior experience in a related field or position.
