About the position

The Engineering Intern Applicant position is designed to provide practical experience in engineering under the supervision of a higher-level engineer. The role involves assisting with various engineering tasks, including contract administration, project inspection, and documentation review to ensure compliance with project specifications and high-quality work by contractors.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Engineer 6 (Project Engineer) with contract administration and processing of change orders.
  • Support construction dispute resolution and interpretation of project specifications.
  • Conduct project inspections and review documentation to ensure quality work by contractors.
  • Assist in the supervision of laboratory units engaged in sampling, inspecting, and testing materials.
  • Perform routine calculations using basic engineering formulas.
  • Participate in economic justification studies for proposed engineering facilities.

Requirements

  • Eligibility for a Louisiana Engineer Intern Certificate.
  • Completion of college hours or degree from an accredited college or university.

Nice-to-haves

  • Possession of a current Louisiana Engineer Intern Certificate.
  • Experience in professional engineering tasks.
