About the position

The Engineering Intern position at H.F. Lenz Company is designed for students enrolled in Electrical or Architectural Engineering programs, providing them with hands-on experience in power distribution and building systems engineering. This summer internship program aims to cultivate future engineering professionals by offering real-world skills, opportunities to work on innovative projects, and collaboration with multi-disciplinary engineering teams.

Responsibilities

  • Support a variety of engineering tasks related to mechanical system design.
  • Learn basic principles of electrical system design, focused in power, lighting, telecom and security systems.
  • Function as part of the design team and utilize engineering design concepts.
  • Become an expert with Autodesk Revit.
  • Learn to perform basic engineering calculations.
  • Assist in engineering related studies and surveys.
  • Coordinate designs with multiple-disciplinary project teams.
  • Travel to project sites and assist with existing condition surveys.

Requirements

  • Enrolled in an accredited Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering program.
  • Knowledge of 2D and 3D modeling, including AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Proficiency with basic computer software, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • Academic coursework that is relevant to electrical and power systems is preferred.
  • Self-motivated with strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • A strong interest and desire to learn building systems design and construction.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior internship experience is preferred, but not required.
