About the position

This internship provides students with the opportunity to immerse themselves in a civil or structural-focused environment within a corporate setting. Interns in the Engineering department will be assigned to one of two tracks: core structural engineering with an emphasis on analysis or civil engineering. The training program is designed to offer hands-on experience with structural analysis software tools, complemented by theoretical training conducted by licensed professionals, including civil and structural engineers. Interns will collaborate in small groups alongside Senior Engineers to address the needs of the company effectively. In the structural engineering internship, the Engineering Intern will be responsible for performing structural analyses of cell phone towers. This includes preparing formal, written reports that detail the capacity of the towers and provide recommendations for modifications necessary to enhance their capacity. Conversely, in the civil engineering internship, the Engineering Intern will engage in raw-land site development utilizing Civil 3D software, conduct stormwater analyses, and work on access road remediation and repair. Additionally, the intern will perform minor structural calculations and prepare letters related to project permitting. This role is designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of both civil and structural engineering practices in a corporate environment.

Responsibilities

  • Work within existing processes to correctly open analyses projects.
  • Perform structural analyses and generate corresponding reports.
  • Confirm accuracy of modification drawings.
  • Answer various structure-related inquiries from internal and external sources.
  • Perform civil site analyses and generate road, grading, and stormwater designs.
  • Support the generation of construction drawings showing antenna equipment placement.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Current enrollment in a 4-5 year college Engineering degree program required, with a civil and/or structural engineering focus preferred.
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA preferred.
  • Proficient with computer software programs, including AutoCAD and Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to present ideas and suggestions clearly and effectively.
  • Ability to work with different functional groups and levels of employees to effectively and professionally achieve results.
  • Strong organizational skills; ability to accomplish multiple tasks within the agreed upon timeframes through effective prioritization of duties and functions in a fast-paced environment.
