About the position

The hardware engineering team is looking for a highly adaptable systems engineer to support multiple infrastructure programs and manage our engineering labs. We work with many cross-functional teams in the development, support and sustaining of servers deployed in data centers. Come join us! You will be responsible for installing and/or setting up data center hardware, running tests and troubleshooting when issues arise. You will also be managing multiple engineering labs, related infrastructure, and server/space allocation. You will be taking the lead on lab projects such as lab network re-work, rack replacements, equipment upgrades & calibration, establishing new lab policies, and generating lab related documentation. As part of your systems engineering function, you will support early product development life-cycle by running tests on pre-production hardware and document results. Build, maintain, and debug both custom and OEM hardware to support multiple programs. You will work with multiple teams, including hardware development, validation, data center, logistics, network services, facilities, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Install and/or set up data center hardware.
  • Run tests and troubleshoot issues.
  • Manage multiple engineering labs and related infrastructure.
  • Oversee server/space allocation.
  • Lead lab projects such as lab network re-work, rack replacements, equipment upgrades & calibration.
  • Establish new lab policies and generate lab-related documentation.
  • Support early product development life-cycle by running tests on pre-production hardware and document results.
  • Build, maintain, and debug both custom and OEM hardware.

Requirements

  • BS Degree in engineering with 2-4 years relevant work experience.
  • Validated understanding of provisioning and boot process for Linux and MacOS based systems (UEFI, DHCP, DNS, PXE/Netboot).
  • Hardware and OS level debugging experience, including use of SEL, kernel logs, system logs, debug commands, etc.
  • Ability to lift up to 50lb (required for system installation) with hands-on in the lab experience, preferably with lab environments at scale 100+ systems.

Nice-to-haves

  • M.S. Degree with minimum 0-3 years experience.
  • Working understanding of OS kernel and modules / drivers (ability to compile driver or kernel module is a plus).
  • Experience with server and component firmware upgrade process as well as network infrastructure (basic understanding of layer 1, 2 and 3).
  • Excellent documentation and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, a desire to mentor, and demonstrated ability to innovate.
