About the position

The Engineering Lab Manager at Leviton will lead a team of technicians in a laboratory environment, providing essential support to the Engineering Department within the Residential Business Unit. This role involves overseeing product functional testing, managing lab maintenance, and assisting in the design and assembly of engineering prototypes. The manager will ensure efficient workflow, optimize testing methods, and maintain high standards of safety and accuracy in the lab.

Responsibilities

  • Organize and distribute work to support the needs of the engineering department.
  • Assemble prototype printed circuit boards and finished good prototypes.
  • Conduct product functional testing including functional verification and software regression testing.
  • Resolve priorities and maintain throughput in the lab.
  • Identify and resolve bottlenecks delaying task completion.
  • Optimize test methods and equipment for accuracy, repeatability, and duration.
  • Identify and execute opportunities to improve test repeatability and reduce test time or labor through automation.
  • Design and develop test fixtures.
  • Maintain the engineering lab including equipment repair, calibration, and inventory organization.
  • Develop test procedures for new products.
  • Assist engineers in troubleshooting, diagnosis, and replication of product failures.
  • Manage operation of a HALT chamber.

Requirements

  • Must have a BS degree in electronics or electrical engineering technology.
  • Experience with electronics lab equipment.
  • Experience in product development testing.
  • Experience with automated testing.
  • Five plus years of experience in a product development environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics and specifications.
  • Proficient in interpreting test results and providing data analysis.
  • Capable of creating technical and procedural documentation.
  • Knowledgeable in lab safety and test methods.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to delegate and hold others accountable.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Good organizational skills.
