About the position

The Engineering Manager, BESS is a leadership role responsible for overseeing a team of electrical engineers and specialists in the development of electrical engineering packages for utility-scale solar PV and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). The position focuses on conceptual engineering and the creation of detailed design documents, ensuring that engineering resources are effectively managed to support project delivery and compliance with technical standards.

Responsibilities

• Manage and lead electrical engineers to develop preliminary design documents in compliance with technical, commercial, and code requirements.
• Establish electrical engineering standards and processes to enhance efficiency in the design process.
• Collaborate with procurement to evaluate technology and materials for competitive advantage.
• Work with the estimating team to capture scope of work and client requirements.
• Engage with clients to understand their engineering needs and lead the team in designing efficient PV systems.
• Support business development and client services to achieve business goals.
• Assign, develop, train, and manage personnel across projects.
• Communicate project objectives and expectations to all participants.
• Ensure timely and budget-compliant deliverables from the Engineering & Design team.
• Implement project management principles to enhance team efficiency and value.
• Measure and report progress on engineering activities.
• Check technical accuracy and oversee quality management procedures for the team's work.
• Coordinate engineering activities with other units or organizations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• B.S. Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil or Structural Engineering from an ABET accredited college.
• Professional Engineering License is a plus.
• 10+ years of engineering and construction experience, with a focus on BESS preferred.
• Experience managing direct reports and leading a team.
