About the position

The Engineering Manager for Core Data Infrastructure at Stripe will lead a team focused on building and scaling foundational data marts, pipelines, and tooling that support Stripe's business strategies. This role involves overseeing the development of a metrics platform, enhancing data accessibility, and ensuring the reliability of data sets for business insights. The manager will also be responsible for mentoring team members and collaborating with various stakeholders to align data needs with product roadmaps.

Responsibilities

• Grow a team of data engineers to scale data pipelines and tools.
• Drive the collection of new data and refine existing data sources.
• Improve the data model as Stripe's product evolves.
• Act as a player/coach, supporting team members while being involved in the details of their work.
• Build relationships with product teams, data analysts, and data scientists to generalize data needs.
• Set strategy, vision, and roadmap for the data space at Stripe.
• Develop a technical roadmap highlighting key areas for internal investment.
• Mentor and grow the team in technical architecture, stakeholder partnership, project management, and product sense.

Requirements

• 10+ years of software engineering or data engineering experience, including 3+ years in management.
• Experience building and managing data engineering teams.
• Proven track record in ideating and building products that contribute to data infrastructure.
• Experience building APIs, products, and complex data systems at scale.
• Degree in computer science, mathematics, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
