About the position

The Engineering Manager for DoorDash's Data Mobility Frameworks team is responsible for leading the development of scalable and reliable data processing frameworks that support the company's data-driven initiatives. This role involves fostering an engineering culture of excellence, mentoring team members, and collaborating with stakeholders to build solutions that enhance the developer experience and meet the organization's high-velocity demands.

Responsibilities

• Drive vision and strategy for building the frameworks charter to handle business challenges.
• Lead a team in crafting core big data processing frameworks and a data mesh layer.
• Ensure clear architecture that efficiently manages standard processing logic and custom requirements.
• Foster an engineering culture of excellence and empower engineers to deliver reliable solutions.
• Build, sustain, and grow a diverse team to meet organizational needs.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to build solutions on top of the data platform.
• Promote a positive and supportive work culture.

Requirements

• B.S., M.S., or PhD. in Computer Science or equivalent.
• 7+ years of industry experience.
• 2+ years of experience in an engineering management role.
• Experience in Systems Engineering with big data processing systems at scale.
• Familiarity with big data compute engines such as Apache Spark and Apache Flink.
• Familiarity with Datalake solutions such as Delta Lake and Apache Iceberg.
• Experience in a cloud-based environment such as AWS.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience building systems that power online applications.
• Exposure to various databases such as CockroachDB, Cassandra, and PostgreSQL.
