About the position

The Engineering Manager - Data Science at GPC Global Technology Center is responsible for leading a team of engineers and collaborating with data scientists and product managers to develop and deploy AI products on the Google Cloud Platform. This role requires a blend of leadership, technical expertise, and a passion for technology, focusing on customer experience and strategic solutions. The manager will oversee the development of AI-driven digital catalog products, ensuring adherence to Agile principles and best practices in software design.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with data scientists, AI/ML engineers, and product managers to build and enhance AI-driven digital catalog products.
• Leverage knowledge in deep learning, machine learning, and statistics to perform data exploration and analysis.
• Define the vision and requirements for solutions, recommending optimal options and developing a roadmap for implementation.
• Initiate meetings with senior management to understand business drivers and functional requirements.
• Direct the identification and recommendation of appropriate solutions, considering productivity, usability, and cost of ownership.
• Communicate architectural decisions to stakeholders and collaborate with domain architects on IT standards.
• Provide oversight on delivery to ensure adherence to best practices, quality, and continuous improvement.
• Offer technical leadership and guidance to lead engineers and the technical team.

Requirements

• 8+ years' experience in software engineering, Data Science, and technology.
• MS/PhD in Mathematics, Statistics, Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or related fields.
• Experience in designing and developing deep learning, machine learning, optimization, and statistical models.
• Strong programming skills in Python; knowledge of SQL and Spark or equivalent.
• Expertise in running queries against data, preferably with Google BigQuery or SQL.
• Experience in prescriptive modeling, including optimization, computer vision, recommendation systems, search, or NLP.
• Demonstrated mastery in predictive modeling, data mining, and data analysis.
• Strong analytical thinking and data visualization skills.
• Ability to clean, transform, manipulate, and analyze large datasets for insights.
• Experience in designing and running A/B tests and analyzing key metrics.
• Experience with cloud computing on major providers (Google Cloud Platform, AWS, or Azure).
