About The Position

The Engineering Manager for Database Platform at Snowflake will lead a high-impact team responsible for the health and growth of the FDB platform service. This role involves overseeing technical discussions, ensuring the reliability and performance of services, mentoring team members, and collaborating with other leaders in engineering and product organizations. The position is pivotal in translating product requirements into engineering work and fostering a culture of innovation and practical decision-making.

Requirements

• 10+ years of industry experience designing, building, and supporting large scale infrastructure in production.
• 3+ years of experience managing and leading teams to build large scale systems or databases.
• Experience designing, building, and operating large-scale distributed systems supporting stateful services.
• Experience in container orchestration, cluster management, and autoscaling.
• Solid understanding of the internals of Kubernetes, Mesos, OpenShift, or other container platforms.
• Excellent understanding of operating systems concepts including scheduling, IO subsystem, multi-threading, memory management, networking and storage, performance and scale.
• Strong hands-on skills with the ability to drill deep into complex system design and implementation.
• Strong track record of delivering large scale and resilient distributed systems and services.
• Knowledge and experience in cloud environments, such as AWS, Azure, and GCP.
• BS in Computer Science or related majors; Masters or PhD preferred.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills.
• Fluency in Java, C++, or C.
• A track record of recruiting and leading technical teams in a demanding talent market.

• Experience in SQL and data analysis is a big plus.
