About the position

As an Engineering Manager at SpotOn, you will lead a team focused on developing world-class restaurant point of sale solutions. Your role will involve overseeing technical direction, fostering team culture, and ensuring the growth of team members while maintaining a focus on delivering high availability, real-time systems that enhance restaurant operations. You will collaborate with various departments to drive product development and maintain a standard of quality, scalability, and maintainability in engineering practices.

Responsibilities

  • Keep your teams focused and engaged
  • Maintain a regular release cadence and product backlog
  • Uphold a standard of timely and lossless communication
  • Build the trust of the individual contributors on your teams
  • Work with peers in Product, QA, and other Engineering departments
  • Coach and mentor team members
  • Cautiously drive adoption of new technologies and processes
  • Preserve our engineering values of quality, scalability, and maintainability
  • Identify blind spots and prioritize work across teams
  • Work with international teams to ensure successful product development and delivery
  • Own the overall architecture and systems engineering for your products

Requirements

  • Exceptional communication and organizational skills
  • Experience recruiting for and building software engineering teams
  • The ability to inspire and motivate team members
  • A strong technical background in software engineering and architecture
  • Experience with modern programming languages and frameworks
  • 8+ years of software development experience
  • 2+ years of experience managing software teams or similar experience as an individual contributor

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with MongoDB
  • Familiarity with Golang
  • Knowledge of MySQL
  • Proficiency in JavaScript, React, and TypeScript
  • Experience with PHP
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes
  • Experience with AWS
