About the position

The Engineering Manager III for Electrical & Software Products at Wabtec is responsible for leading and developing engineering teams focused on embedded control systems and electrical products for transit applications. This role emphasizes innovation, strategic leadership, and continuous improvement to maintain Wabtec's market leadership in advanced bus transportation systems. The manager will oversee product development, mentor team members, and ensure compliance with industry standards while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the development, design, and release of electronic hardware and software products.
  • Develop and execute strategies for an electrical and software product portfolio.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of supervisors/engineers.
  • Drive continuous improvement and innovation efforts across the product portfolio.
  • Develop & control department KPIs, ensuring alignment with company goals.
  • Facilitate collaboration with cross-functional teams, project management, and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and quality.
  • Represent Wabtec Bus Solutions in customer meetings and industry events.
  • Manage department budget, resource allocation, and oversee departmental expenditures.
  • Lead initiatives to maintain and enhance Bus Solutions' technological leadership.
  • Implement talent growth and capacity planning strategies.
  • Develop and enforce processes for timely, cost-effective, quality deliverables.
  • Collaborate with marketing/sales to align with market demands.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with key suppliers and technology partners.
  • Drive projects from concept to production launch.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical or computer engineering, computer science, software engineering, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in engineering roles.
  • 5+ years in technical leadership within transportation or related industries.
  • Proven record of driving high-impact business results.
  • Experience with vehicle control technologies, control systems, and cybersecurity.
  • Experience with software development lifecycle & agile methodologies.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and strategic thinking skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and lead high-performing engineering teams.
  • Proficient in project management, Six Sigma, and Lean methodologies.
  • Solid Stage Gate NPD & FMEA process knowledge.

  • Master's degree / MBA preferred.
