About the position

The Engineering Manager IV at EarthScope Consortium, Inc. is responsible for overseeing the Data Services Section, managing budgets, staff, and projects to ensure timely and cost-effective completion of the group's work. This role involves significant leadership responsibilities, including collaboration with senior management, resource management, and the development of new funding opportunities. The position also emphasizes fostering a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion within the team.

Responsibilities

• Manage budgets, staff, activities, and projects of the Data Services Section.
• Contribute to the management team by setting group priorities and resolving issues.
• Prepare annual and multi-year program plans and resource needs for the Section's activities.
• Manage resources efficiently and effectively, including staff and infrastructure.
• Act as a technical subject matter expert within the company and community.
• Establish and enforce procedures that align with operating standards.
• Identify and develop new funding opportunities and emerging technologies.
• Develop project and budget documentation for delivery to stakeholders.
• Arrange and implement training to ensure staff understand policies and procedures.
• Lead long-term project teams and coordinate with stakeholders.

Requirements

• PhD in geoscience, computer science, physical science, engineering, or related field with 10 years of relevant experience including 8 years in management; OR
• Master's degree in the same fields with 11 years of relevant experience including 9 years in management; OR
• Bachelor's degree in the same fields with 12 years of relevant experience including 10 years in management; OR
• 14 years of relevant experience including 12 years in management.

Nice-to-haves

• Understanding of earth sciences and earth science data.
• Knowledge of the earth science community.
