About the position
The Engineering Manager at Juniper Hotel Cupertino is responsible for overseeing the functionality and safety of the hotel's facilities, including mechanical, electrical, and life safety systems. This role involves managing a team of engineers, ensuring compliance with regulations, and maintaining high standards of service and safety for guests and staff. The position requires effective communication with city officials and vendors, as well as the ability to respond to emergencies and coordinate maintenance activities.
Responsibilities
- Supervises programs involving electrical, mechanical, and general construction, repair, and maintenance of existing facilities and equipment.
- Assigns, supervises, and verifies completion of routine maintenance and operation of the hotel's physical structure, mechanical, electrical, and HVAC systems.
- Visually inspects quality of work and assigns staff and directs outside contractors in tasks according to performance and productivity standards.
- Hires, disciplines, counsels, and trains engineering staff.
- Communicates effectively with city officials to ensure proper maintenance of permits and licenses, coordinating inspections with the appropriate department.
- Acts as a liaison between the hotel and vendors to review the latest in hotel technology and products.
- Attends engineering conventions to educate and stay updated on industry standards.
Requirements
- Senior level experience in engineering management or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and HVAC systems.
- Experience in facility management and maintenance operations.
- Ability to supervise and train staff effectively.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
