Netflix is seeking a seasoned engineering leader to spearhead applied machine learning research focused on Asset Optimization. As a leading entertainment service with 278 million paid memberships across over 190 countries, Netflix is committed to enhancing the viewing experience for its members. This role is pivotal as we explore new frontiers of personalization, tailoring assets such as box arts, synopses, and trailers to help members discover content that aligns with their preferences. The successful candidate will lead a team of experts and engineers dedicated to personalizing these assets, ultimately maximizing member joy and retention. In this position, you will be responsible for building and scaling a consolidated continuous explore/exploit system that can be generalized across various application areas. Your team will not only innovate but also operate these algorithms in production, ensuring they meet the high standards of Netflix's engineering quality and operational excellence. You will guide projects from conception to production, collaborating with a diverse range of professionals, including behavioral scientists, machine learning researchers, and application engineers. This role requires a data-driven mindset, curiosity, and a healthy skepticism, along with the ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams effectively. To thrive in this role, you must possess extensive machine learning and engineering experience, particularly in driving ML applications at a consumer scale. You should be passionate about engineering quality and operational excellence, with a strong focus on delivering a great product experience.
