Responsibilities

  • Lead the engineering team to design and deploy new product development initiatives, including ownership of all engineering design elements and processes.
  • Collaborate with the engineering test lab to ensure successful design validation testing.
  • Interface with product marketing throughout the product development process to facilitate a product that meets requirements and is efficiently deployed.
  • Interface with operations to ensure production readiness and design for manufacturing are implemented.
  • Perform technology reviews and develop technology roadmaps for subsystems.
  • Work with suppliers to develop solutions for new products and align R&D with future product roadmap.
  • Provide input for product roadmap and project requirements, overseeing project resources, schedule, and budget.
  • Oversee FMEA, test plans, and performance data, as well as prototype and pre-production builds.
  • Act as a subject matter expert for mechanical or electrical engineering principles, formulating test plans and analyzing results.
  • Initiate continuous improvement to reduce project cycle time and increase product quality and performance.
  • Create, manage, and deliver training for product development processes and technical subjects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree (B.S.) in Mechanical, Electrical, or Aerospace engineering from an accredited four-year College or University is required; Master's preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience with formal product development process.
  • 5+ years of experience with either mechanical or electrical design.
  • Experience in leading a small to medium engineering team required.
  • Strong attention to detail and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in a cross-functional environment.
  • Strong planning and forecasting skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with HVAC equipment design and development.
  • Knowledge of AHRI, ASHRAE, and regulatory standards.
