About the position

The Engineering Manager/Product Development Manager at Heritage Cutter is a pivotal role focused on maintaining and enhancing the company's leadership in the precision cutting tools market, specifically in high-performance, application-specific solid carbide end mills. This position is crucial for identifying and capitalizing on adjacent product areas within the round tool market, ensuring that Data Flute continues to build and maintain its leadership position based on performance and application specificity. The Engineering/Product Development Manager will oversee the engineering and R&D groups, working closely with Product Management to ensure that the company's technological and product leadership is upheld within the solid carbide, round tool industry. In this role, the manager will be responsible for identifying, formulating, testing, and commercializing new products. This includes conducting and overseeing in-house testing to ensure product quality and performance. The ideal candidate will possess strong experience in R&D, Tooling Engineering, or Manufacturing Engineering, with a significant focus on the use and deployment of industrial cutting tools, particularly solid round tools. Proficiency in CAD/CAM software is also a critical requirement for this position, as it will be essential for product development and engineering tasks. The position is based at the Berkshire Precision Tool production facility in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, and offers a comprehensive benefits package to support the well-being of its employees.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and solidify the leadership position of Data Flute in the precision cutting tools market.
  • Identify and capitalize on adjacent product areas in the round tool market.
  • Oversee the engineering and R&D groups, ensuring alignment with product management.
  • Conduct and oversee in-house testing of new products.
  • Identify, formulate, test, and commercialize new products in the solid carbide, round tool industry.
  • Provide advanced technical support to sales and customers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.
  • Strong experience in R&D, Tooling Engineering, or Manufacturing Engineering.
  • Experience using and deploying industrial cutting tools, particularly solid round tools.
  • Proficiency in CAD/CAM software.
