About the position

The Engineering Manager for Product Innovation/Development is responsible for leading, managing, and providing technical direction to a product development engineering team focused on major products, systems, or programs. This role involves defining plans, monitoring and controlling scope, costs, schedules, and technical performance, while coordinating the technical efforts and establishing operational plans to achieve program objectives. The Engineering Manager will oversee the execution of engineering projects, ensuring they align with the defined scope, cost, and schedule constraints. This position requires regular interaction with internal teams, program management, and customers to address technical projects assigned to the team, and may involve cross-business unit or division interfaces on common technical issues. In this role, the Engineering Manager will define plans and monitor costs (both non-recurring and recurring), schedules, and technical performance for major product development and core engineering projects. They will implement ongoing project status reviews using project management tools and engineering systems, and may act as a Control Account Manager (CAM) for projects applying Earned Value Management (EVM). The Engineering Manager will make decisions on technical priorities or design alternatives for projects within the team's scope and will serve as the primary technical contact on team or project performance, advising engineering or business unit leadership. They will also represent the organization as the technical liaison in providing solutions to customer problems. Building and maintaining collaborative relationships with internal and external customers is crucial, as is ensuring that customer needs are identified and addressed. The Engineering Manager will implement and maintain consistent engineering practices, standards, and documentation procedures, while also safeguarding Parker's intellectual property. They will develop and analyze the operating budget, project future needs, and monitor conformance to contractual, schedule, and cost performance elements. Additionally, the Engineering Manager will manage technical project execution within budget and schedule constraints, compile engineering cost and schedule data, and identify opportunities for process improvements to enhance engineering productivity. The role also involves working with business development and program management to identify new business opportunities, presenting Parker's product capabilities, and clarifying customers' technical requirements. The Engineering Manager will identify and create technical training and development plans, mentor team members, and maintain leadership and technical capabilities through continued education or training.
