About the position

Localize is seeking an energetic, growth-minded Engineering Manager to oversee multiple teams of software engineers in a remote setting. This role involves leading teams through the software development lifecycle, mentoring team members, and shaping engineering practices while contributing to product strategy and execution. The Engineering Manager will collaborate with cross-functional teams and ensure the quality of deliverables while fostering a culture of innovation and efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow remote engineering teams, providing mentorship, guidance, and support to team members.
• Oversee the quality of engineers' deliverables, including coding, testing, and debugging, to maintain high standards of software quality.
• Provide coaching in Agile practices, product management, software architecture, and individual growth, contributing to team development.
• Foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture, emphasizing innovation and continuous improvement.
• Cultivate a customer-focused ethos, instilling a passion for success within the team.
• Deliver projects on time and within scope in a distributed workforce setting.
• Implement effective project management strategies to mitigate risks and ensure successful project outcomes.
• Continuously seek innovation and process improvement opportunities, finding efficiencies in all assigned tasks to drive the team's success.
• Lead the design and implementation of software solutions ensuring scalability, modularity, and maintainability.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience managing engineering teams.
• 5+ years in software engineering.
• Experience leading geographically diverse engineering teams in a remote work environment.
• Proven success with accountability and leading a team through complex challenges.
• Successful track record of identifying roadblocks and keeping teams on track.
• Experience conducting interviews and hiring for your team.
• Comfortable guiding the team strategically as well as contributing hands-on where needed.
• Experience in negotiating cross-functional projects and driving business growth.
• Experience partnering with cross-functional teams to build the best customer experience.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Javascript, React, Redux, Backbone, Handlebars, Less for frontend development.
• Experience with Node, Express, Mongoose for backend development.
• Familiarity with MongoDB, Redis, S3 for datastores.
• Experience with AWS services like Elastic Beanstalk, EC2, Elasticache, Cloudfront, Route53.
• Knowledge of Git/Github, Jira, CircleCI, Mocha for DevOps.
