About the position

We are looking for an experienced, results-oriented leader to head up our robotics software development. In this leadership role, you will lead architecture design and development for autonomous machine control platforms, build a world-class engineering team to advance autonomous machine development, and encourage learning and development of domain expertise in Machine Learning, Computer Vision, and/or Computer Graphics to push simulation and autonomous operation. This position is based in West Fargo, ND, with potential locations in Bismarck or Fargo, ND; Minneapolis, MN; or Statesville, NC. As a leader, you will oversee multiple teams across different layers of the software stack, providing development, mentoring, and coaching to cross-functional teams and individuals. You will drive the overall technical vision and architecture, ensuring that systems grow and scale quickly. Additionally, you will lead the creation of Long Range Plans (LRP) for your functional team, develop release plans, and ensure they are delivered at a regular cadence. It is essential to ensure that requirements, design documentation, and software are developed and validated in alignment with industry best practices. In terms of business responsibilities, you will ensure that planning, estimation, and tracking activities are carried out effectively while managing the operating budget for the team. This role requires a strong background in applied Deep Learning and experience leading and developing engineering teams for multiple products, along with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Computer Engineering, or other software-related field.
• 10+ years of relevant engineering experience.
• Strong background and experience in applied Deep Learning.
• Experience leading and developing engineering teams for multiple products.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong experience in project management and different software process methodologies.

Nice-to-haves

• Master's degree in electrical engineering, robotics, or related field preferred.
• 5+ years of people management experience.
• Experience with ROS, Gazebo, Unreal, and Omniverse.
