About the position

The Uniswap Labs team is on a mission to build products that unlock value through universal exchange, envisioning a future where digital economies thrive and markets are transparent, global, and equitable. As part of this vision, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Engineering Manager to lead our Security and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) teams. This role is pivotal in ensuring the security, reliability, and efficiency of our infrastructure and applications. The ideal candidate will possess a robust background in both security engineering and site reliability, demonstrating proven leadership abilities and a passion for fostering a culture of security and reliability across the organization. In this role, you will lead and mentor a team of security engineers and site reliability engineers, creating a collaborative and innovative work environment. You will be responsible for developing and executing strategies aimed at enhancing security and reliability across all systems and services. Setting clear goals and performance metrics for the team will be essential, along with conducting regular performance reviews and providing constructive feedback to team members. Your responsibilities will also include overseeing the design, implementation, and maintenance of security measures across the organization's infrastructure and applications, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements. You will conduct regular security assessments, vulnerability testing, and threat modeling to identify and mitigate risks, while also developing and maintaining security policies, procedures, and best practices. On the site reliability engineering front, you will manage the reliability, availability, and performance of the company's services and infrastructure. This includes implementing and maintaining monitoring, alerting, and incident response processes, optimizing system performance, and automating repetitive tasks to improve efficiency. You will drive continuous improvement in operational processes and engineering practices to enhance system reliability. Collaboration is key in this role, as you will work closely with other engineering teams, product managers, and stakeholders to ensure that security and reliability requirements are integrated into all stages of the development lifecycle. Effective communication with senior management and other departments will be crucial, as you will provide regular updates on security and reliability initiatives and performance, advocating for best practices throughout the organization.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in security engineering and/or site reliability engineering, with at least 3 years in a leadership or management role.
  • Strong understanding of security principles, practices, and technologies, including encryption, authentication, access control, and network security.
  • Proven experience with reliability engineering practices such as monitoring, alerting, incident response, and performance tuning.
  • Proficiency in scripting and automation tools, such as Python, Bash, Ansible, or Terraform.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and container orchestration systems (Kubernetes, Docker).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and inspire teams.

Nice-to-haves

  • Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or SANS GIAC.
  • Experience with DevOps practices and tools, such as CI/CD pipelines, GitOps, and infrastructure as code.
  • Knowledge of compliance frameworks such as GDPR, HIPAA, or SOC 2.
