Crown Equipment Corporation is seeking an Engineering Manager for Systems and Software to lead a product engineering group in the development of vehicle systems and software. This role involves making individual contributions to engineering and design issues as required, while also providing technical and product guidance to the systems and software development team. The Engineering Manager will oversee a team that may include Electrical Engineers, Systems Engineers, Software Engineers, or Technical Leads, ensuring that projects meet their objectives and are completed on time. The responsibilities include project planning, supervision, and technical review, where the manager will design workflow charts, estimate man-hours, materials, and activities needed to complete projects. They will also oversee the development of project definitions, specifications, and guidelines, ensuring that the integrity of design is maintained through sound engineering practices and compliance with company and industry standards. The Engineering Manager will participate in engineering and design reviews, review test results, and propose improvements to the product development process. As a Product and Technology Champion, the Engineering Manager will lead the development of new products, build product knowledge for assigned truck models, and study competitive products and emerging technologies. They will work directly with customers and sales teams to ensure that products meet customer requirements and propose innovative solutions to improve customer processes. Leadership and communication are key aspects of this role, as the manager will regularly communicate project status to supervisors and other departments, monitor staff productivity, and provide mentorship to direct reports. The position offers a hybrid work environment, requiring a reasonable commute for mostly onsite work. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, along with at least five years of engineering experience in a product development environment, particularly in model-based design of embedded control systems using Mathworks tools. Project management and supervisory skills are essential, as well as strong written and verbal communication abilities.
