About the position

The cloudOS system software team at Apple is seeking a motivated manager to lead technology and product development for server hardware and private cloud compute services. This role involves overseeing team activities and cross-functional efforts, contributing to the entire Apple product development cycle from concept to production, and ensuring high-quality work under tight timelines. The manager will collaborate with teams across various locations, focusing on integrating new technologies while maintaining strong privacy and security standards.

Responsibilities

  • Lead activities for the cloudOS system software team and larger cross-functional efforts.
  • Drive technology and product development for Apple's server hardware and private cloud compute services.
  • Engage in collaborative efforts to integrate new technologies into product designs.
  • Contribute to all stages of the Apple product development cycle, from concept to production.
  • Oversee individual product features and overall system validation activities.
  • Foster positive relationships with engineers and partner teams to ensure effective collaboration.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of proven excellence in system software development or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years leading a development team.
  • Expertise in C, C++, Objective-C, or Swift.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • BS or M.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with secure and privacy-first designs.
  • Self-directed with the ability to drive projects from idea to production.

Nice-to-haves

  • Passion for product ownership and a track record of product development.
  • Ability to coordinate efforts of multiple teams.
  • Experience building operating systems, kernels, drivers, daemons, and frameworks.
  • Experience with designing, implementing, and operating large-scale distributed systems and networking protocols.
  • Knowledge of Networking Protocols, Security, Privacy, and Cryptography.
