About The Position

The engineering team supporting Palo Alto Networks' internal Threat Data Platform is seeking a seasoned Software Engineer & Manager to lead a team of engineers responsible for automating the analysis of threat intelligence and building tools that enable researchers to create well-modeled threat intelligence. This role involves reporting to the Director of Threat Data Platform and leveraging expertise in software development methodologies and best practices to guide the team in delivering high-quality and highly scalable software. The successful candidate will apply their skills toward identifying technical solutions to roadmap projects, improving team efficiency, and managing the development process. This position is crucial in designing and implementing the roadmap for this new team, ensuring that the tools developed meet the strategic goals of the organization. In this role, you will participate in strategy planning to build excellent tools, manage day-to-day operations to ensure software is developed on schedule, and oversee multiple projects simultaneously. Active participation in code and architecture reviews is expected, along with mentoring and managing the professional development of team members. As a subject matter expert for our data and platform(s), you will play a key role in shaping the direction of the team and its output. The engineering team is at the core of Palo Alto Networks' products and is directly connected to the mission of preventing cyberattacks. The team is constantly innovating and challenging the traditional views of cybersecurity. Engineers are encouraged to build products that solve problems that have not been pursued before, defining the industry rather than waiting for directions. The ideal candidate will feel comfortable in ambiguity, be excited by challenges, and be empowered by the unknown risks that a secure digital environment can mitigate.
