About the position

The Engineering Manager for the Web Platform at Klaviyo is responsible for leading a highly technical team that manages the deployment processes and core services for frontend code. This role involves collaborating with other leaders to develop a vision for a best-in-class platform, hiring new team members, and overseeing day-to-day operations while fostering career growth for engineers. The position requires a strong focus on frontend performance and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with leaders in the Frontend Platform organization to craft a vision and strategy for the platform.
• Hire new engineering team members as the team grows.
• Manage a team that operates in high parallel against projects.
• Own day-to-day operations and help engineers grow their careers.
• Lead team processes such as standups and retrospectives.

Requirements

• Experience building and maintaining platform tooling at a SaaS company, particularly in the frontend space.
• Several years of professional experience with React and ideally TypeScript.
• Proven experience as an Engineering Manager leading highly experienced engineers.
• Ability to provide technical mentorship and engage in hands-on engineering work.
• Experience in hiring successful team members and mentoring individuals to become technical leaders.
• Experience leading and implementing large cross-team technical projects.
• Strong focus on frontend performance.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with technologies such as Babel, Webpack, Eslint, REST, GraphQL, JSON Schema, and JSON:API.
• Familiarity with CDNs like Fastly, Cloudfront, Cloudflare.
• Experience with BuildKite, Jenkins, Python, Django, Celery, MySQL, Redis, and Pulsar.
