About the position

The Engineering Manager at Avanzar plays a crucial role in supporting the plant and customer by managing new programs, plant projects, and implementing improvement and cost reduction initiatives. This position focuses on developing assembly processes, fixturing, and equipment to ensure high-quality and cost-effective production, while also ensuring timely implementation of design changes.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership to the Engineering and Maintenance team for automotive seat and overhead system manufacturing.
• Interface directly with customers, suppliers, and product engineering organizations, focusing on Seat Assembly and Overhead system assembly.
• Collaborate with lean manufacturing teams to update key process indicators such as Quick Tool Change, Tool performance, and OEE.
• Support plant safety programs by ensuring engineering support is integrated into manufacturing processes.
• Manage the quoting and implementation of product design changes.
• Identify, implement, and verify continuous improvement activities.
• Establish and evaluate internal integration plans by completing make vs. buy plans and presenting proposals.
• Develop appropriate production technologies and methods according to business needs.
• Plan resources and budget to achieve profit plan goals for the fiscal year.
• Support environmental, health, and safety initiatives, ensuring compliance with OSHA and EPA/TCEQ standards.

Requirements

• B.S. Degree in Engineering or a related field (mechanical, industrial, manufacturing).
• Preferably five years of automotive experience.
• Experience with launches and continuous improvement.

Nice-to-haves

• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, blueprints, and procedure manuals (hydraulic, electric, and pneumatic schematics).
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
