About the position
The Engineering Manager will lead a team of engineers and designers in a custom design and machine manufacturing company specializing in high-quality machinery for the food and dairy industry. This role involves providing technical leadership, managing budgets and schedules, and overseeing employee training and development to ensure the production of outstanding technical documentation.
Responsibilities
- Provide direction and support to a team of twelve engineers and designers.
- Set team goals and provide technical and design leadership.
- Manage budgeting and scheduling.
- Oversee employee training and development.
- Communicate effectively with Sales and Manufacturing teams.
- Develop department infrastructure and standards.
- Oversee the production of outstanding technical documentation.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
- Experience in the design of industrial equipment such as conveyors, packaging equipment, or food processing machinery.
- Five or more years of management experience with an emphasis on employee development.
- Experience with automation controls using PLCs, HMIs, servos, VFDs, as well as pneumatics.
- Experience with design, fabrication, and troubleshooting of high-speed machinery.
- Proficiency in using 3D CAD and DFMA.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in Industrial Food Processing Automation, with a strong preference for the dairy industry.
- Knowledge of sanitary design principles and common standards and codes (IEEE, ANSI, NSF, USDA).
- Experience managing third-party resources (technical consultants, contractors, etc.).
