About the position

The Functional Engineering Manager is a key leadership role at Creation Technologies, focused on overseeing and enhancing the engineering processes up to three critical disciplines: Test Engineering, Process Engineering, or Manufacturing Engineering. This leadership level position is crucial for driving the execution of complex engineering tasks, managing a team of engineers, and ensuring the creation, configuration, and optimization of processes required to produce and/or test Circuit Card Assemblies (CCAs) and box assemblies. The role requires an agile leader who can apply deep industry knowledge to advance manufacturing services, drive continuous improvement, uphold the highest standards of quality and efficiency and maneuver resources to deliver on high priority tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and direction to engineering teams across their discipline: Foster a collaborative work environment, set clear goals and expectations, and mentor team members to enhance their skills and career progression.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to enhance productivity, efficiency, and quality in manufacturing processes: Formulate long-term objectives to streamline operations, incorporating advanced technologies and methodologies to improve process capabilities.
  • Follow the NPI framework launch new product with support from cross functional teams.
  • Manage and coordinate engineering projects: Oversee project life cycles from conception to deployment, ensuring projects align with business strategies and are delivered within budget and timelines.
  • Drive innovation and continuous improvement initiatives within the engineering department: Initiate and lead programs that encourage innovative thinking and the adoption of new engineering practices to enhance product quality and manufacturing efficiency.
  • Oversee the training and professional development of engineering staff: Design comprehensive training programs to upskill employees, ensuring they remain adept with industry advancements and regulatory changes.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations: Monitor operations to enforce adherence to international standards and safety guidelines, minimizing risks and ensuring a safe workplace.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders including suppliers and customers: Engage regularly with external partners to align engineering objectives with customer needs and supply chain capabilities.
  • Prepare and manage the engineering CAPEX and OPEX budget; forecast needs and control expenditures: Strategically allocate resources, monitor financial performance, and adjust budgets to maximize return on investment.
  • Champion the use of lean manufacturing and six sigma techniques: Implement process improvements that reduce waste and variability in manufacturing processes while enhancing productivity.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field with a focus on electronics and manufacturing processes or equivalent industry or military training experience.
  • Minimum of 10+ Years of progressive experience in electronics manufacturing including 3+ years in engineering management/leadership roles.
  • Aerospace, Defense and/or medical manufacturing experience required for A&D/Medical MFG sites.
  • Exceptional leadership and people management skills, with the ability to coach, mentor, and develop high-performing teams.
  • Strong knowledge of EMS manufacturing processes, business models, and the technical landscape.
  • Proven track record in managing complex engineering projects, with a strong problem-solving capability.
  • Excellent collaboration and interaction skills, capable of working effectively across all levels of the organization and with external partners.
  • Exceptionally strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex concepts and influence decision-making for both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Must have advanced SME expertise in 1 or more of the Test Engineering, Process Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering, along with strong understanding of the remaining engineering discipline(s).
  • Fiscal responsibility, with experience in budgeting, resource allocation, and performance management to achieve organizational goals.
  • Have a strong understanding of relevant compliance standards and requirements e.g., ISO9001, ISO13485, ITAR, CGP, IPC and J-STD workmanship standards.
