About the position

The Product Engineering Manager at Tenneco is responsible for overseeing a team of product engineers in the development of aftermarket ride control products. This role involves coaching engineers on product specifications, testing procedures, and quality evaluations, while also managing new product introductions and supplier change requests. The position requires strong leadership skills to guide a diverse team and make quick, effective decisions in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

• Management and approval of new product introduction, resourcing, renovation, innovation, and supplier change requests.
• Coach engineers in the development and refinement of product specifications, testing procedures, and failure mode and effect analysis.
• Aid in process improvement for enhanced efficiency, quality, forecasting, and output tracking.
• Manage a team of product engineers, technicians, and interns, including evaluating work capacity and distribution of responsibilities.
• Set team member goals and training plans, and conduct twice annual performance reviews.
• Develop creative solutions for team members when work does not fit existing specifications and procedures.
• Collaborate with purchasing and supplier quality to select and approve new global suppliers.
• Assist product management and sales with new business opportunities and customer retention.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering required, Master's degree preferred.
• 5 years of experience in automotive engineering; 3 years of experience leading engineering teams.
• Knowledge of APQP, PPAP, and experience in creating product requirements, DFMEA, and DVP.
• Strong team player with the ability to work effectively on cross-functional teams.
• Excellent communication skills, fluent in English; multiple languages a plus.
• Technical familiarity with a range of materials and manufacturing processes.
