About the position

The Engineering Manager will lead the BCP NPD team in Grand Rapids, MI, providing technical leadership and collaborating with Product Managers to set project strategies and priorities. This role involves mentoring engineers, overseeing product design and development, and ensuring alignment with business objectives while managing resources effectively.

Responsibilities

• Mentor, supervise, and collaborate with engineers and technicians to execute industry-focused projects.
• Design new products and processes following the product development process.
• Lead the NPD testing lab by setting test standards and coaching test technicians.
• Collaborate effectively with colleagues globally within assigned and other industries.
• Provide technical support for existing products to enhance performance and cost efficiency.
• Assist in developing metrics and processes to improve new product design delivery.
• Research and determine the technical feasibility of new opportunities for customer solutions.
• Direct rapid-prototyping activities for product development projects.
• Define and direct internal and external testing activities to validate new designs.
• Participate in Continuous Improvement programs and special projects as assigned.
• Estimate the yearly budget for BCP NPD, working closely with the Sr. Engineering Manager.
• Lead the IP plan for BCP NPD products in collaboration with legal counsel.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related engineering field.
• Minimum 15 years of related experience.
• First-hand working knowledge of various manufacturing processes including injection molding, CNC machining, welding, and more.
• Experience leading cross-functional teams in product development and troubleshooting.
• Experience applying Lean NPD concepts in product development and continuous improvement.
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 25% of the time.
