About the position

The Engineering Manager at Lattice is responsible for leading and developing a team of software engineers within the Engagement team, which focuses on enhancing employee feedback and engagement through innovative products. This role emphasizes collaboration, technical mentorship, and fostering a diverse and inclusive team culture while ensuring the delivery of high-quality software solutions. The manager will also play a key role in scaling the team and processes to meet the growing demands of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a healthy and collaborative culture that embodies Lattice's values.
  • Help engineers advance in their careers and enable them to do their best work.
  • Work closely with the Recruiting team to expand the engineering team, including sourcing and interviewing candidates.
  • Onboard new engineers to ensure their success from the start.
  • Ensure a delightful and reliable experience for customers while enabling rapid development.
  • Set the direction for the team and anticipate strategic challenges through long-term planning.
  • Contribute to engineering-wide initiatives as part of the leadership team.
  • Collaborate with the product team to define and prioritize the product roadmap.
  • Represent the engineering team to the larger organization, ensuring recognition for successes and ownership of failures.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience directly managing software engineers.
  • Experience collaborating with other engineering leaders and cross-functional team members.
  • Several years of hands-on software engineering experience with proven technical mentorship abilities.
  • Empathy, integrity, and technical ability to earn the trust of a technically astute team.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity, autonomy, and responsibility.
  • Excitement for building teams and hiring talent from diverse backgrounds.
  • Empathetic and employee-focused, helping team members achieve their goals.
  • Ability to work with software engineers, product managers, and designers to deliver great products.
  • Willingness to dive into the code when necessary.

Nice-to-haves

  • Professional experience with Node.js, React, Flow, GraphQL, Postgres, and Amazon Web Services.
