About the position

The Engineering & Design Department at Western Washington University is seeking qualified candidates for a non-tenure track faculty vacancy pool in Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or Polymer Materials Engineering. This position involves teaching undergraduate courses and engaging students in their learning process. The role is part-time with potential for full-time appointments, and applications are accepted continuously to fill temporary teaching positions as they arise throughout the academic year and summer sessions.

Responsibilities

• Teach Engineering (ENGR), Manufacturing Engineering (MFGE), and Polymer Materials Engineering (PME) courses as directed by the department chair.
• Engage students actively in their own learning through discussion, writing, and analysis.
• Provide students with feedback on their coursework and examinations.
• Maintain regularly scheduled office hours for student availability.
• Collect assessment data on student learning and participate in accreditation efforts related to teaching assignments.
• Ensure students evaluate courses using standard University evaluation forms and make evaluations available for annual review.

Requirements

• B.S. degree in Manufacturing, Materials, or Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Demonstrated potential for effective teaching.
• Commitment to providing equitable and inclusive environments for all students, faculty, and staff with diverse social identities and backgrounds.

Nice-to-haves

• Recent, relevant industry experience.
• M.S. in Manufacturing, Materials, or Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
