About the position

Cobb EMC is seeking an Engineering and Operations Data Analyst responsible for developing analytics, metrics, and reports from diverse datasets to derive insights and solve business problems. The role involves designing databases, ensuring their performance, and utilizing various analytical techniques to transform complex data into actionable solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Gather data from various operational sources including GIS, SCADA systems, smart meters, and outage management systems.
  • Analyze operational data to identify trends, inefficiencies, or anomalies within the electrical distribution network.
  • Create reports, dashboards, and data visualizations to present insights to stakeholders using tools like Power BI.
  • Monitor the performance of electrical distribution systems and equipment lifecycle.
  • Assist in outage analysis and restoration optimization to improve response times.
  • Utilize predictive analytics for maintenance scheduling to prevent unexpected failures.
  • Ensure data accuracy and reliability through validation procedures and quality checks.
  • Extract, transform, load, and analyze data from multiple sources and formats.
  • Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to translate data insights into actionable decisions.
  • Prepare data and reports for regulatory compliance and support grid modernization efforts.
  • Recommend and implement process improvements based on data insights.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics, or a related field.
  • Minimum two years of work experience in Data Analysis.
  • Working knowledge of Python, SQL, and other database technologies.
  • Experience with Power BI and Microsoft Power Platform products.
  • Experience in analyzing and visualizing data in maps, dashboards, and reports.
  • Experience with ETL tools like FME.
  • Ability to analyze, document, and resolve problems effectively.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous utility experience.
  • Understanding of electrical distribution network components.
  • Experience with R programming and other Microsoft Power Platform products.
  • Experience with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and related tools.
  • Knowledge of MultiSpeak specification and real-time systems.
