About the position

The Engineering Operations Technician (EOT) role at Amazon Data Services involves supporting the operations of critical infrastructure systems within data centers. The position focuses on maintaining and operating these systems to ensure they are prepared for any situation, driving innovation while reducing operational costs, and collaborating with a diverse team to uphold safety and security standards.

Responsibilities

• Drive innovation while reducing operational costs in the facilities.
• Drive projects with moderate complexity.
• Assist in troubleshooting of facility and rack-level events within internal Service Level Agreements (SLA).
• Perform rack installs, rack decommissioning, operational readings and facility management.
• Provide key performance indicators to senior engineers.
• Manage on-site contractors, sub-contractors, and vendors, ensuring compliance with established practices and local legislation.
• Oversee maintenance and operations on all electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment within the data center.
• Ensure adherence to safety procedures while performing work.
• Perform basic support concepts such as ticketing systems, root cause analysis, change management creation, writing procedures and building management systems.
• Adapt work schedule based on specific site needs, with shifts up to 12 hours and potential on-call rotations.
• Maintain data center critical infrastructure equipment ensuring 99.999% uptime.
• Support multiple locations/sites as needed.
• Perform physical tasks including walking on uneven terrain, lifting, and climbing.

Requirements

• 1+ years of electrical or mechanical experience.
• 1+ years of data center or mission critical facilities experience (e.g., hospital, military facility, public safety facility).
• High school or equivalent diploma.
