About the position

The Engineering Operations Technician (EOT) role at AWS involves maintaining and operating critical infrastructure systems within data centers to ensure their reliability and availability. This position requires hands-on work with electrical and mechanical equipment, performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and supporting various operational tasks. The EOT will collaborate with a diverse team to implement new technologies and practices, contributing to the overall efficiency and safety of AWS data centers.

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily building rounds to monitor and record information from electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment.
• Monitor Building Management Systems (BMS) and Electrical Power Management System (EPMS).
• Assist in troubleshooting facility and rack-level events within internal Service Level Agreements (SLA).
• Perform rack installs and decommissioning within internal SLA.
• Conduct preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and repair of electrical and mechanical equipment.
• Engage in technical writing to support the change management program.
• Monitor daily work requests, manage to resolution, and execute projects from conception to completion.
• Provide on-site support for contractors, ensuring compliance with established practices and local legislation.

Requirements

• Technical training (Military/Trade School) or 2+ years of electrical or mechanical, HVAC, fire system experience in a mission-critical infrastructure or equivalent experience in a relevant industry.
• 2+ years of electrical or mechanical experience.
• 2+ years' experience with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• High school diploma or equivalent.

Nice-to-haves

• 4+ years of Data Center Engineering experience.
• Associates or Bachelor's Degree.
