As an Engineering Operations Technician II (EOT II) at Amazon Data Services, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and operating some of the world's most powerful data centers. You will work alongside teams of front-line responders who are dedicated to ensuring that our critical infrastructure systems are prepared to handle any situation. The AWS Infrastructure Services team is responsible for the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure, which means you will be part of a team that keeps the cloud running smoothly. Your work will involve collaborating with a diverse group of professionals, including software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, and operations managers, all focused on delivering the highest standards for safety and security while providing our customers with the capacity they need at the lowest possible cost. In this role, you will be tasked with driving innovation while reducing operational costs within the facilities. You will assist in troubleshooting facility and rack-level events, perform rack installations and decommissioning, and manage operational readings and facility management. You will also provide key performance indicators to senior engineers and oversee the work of contractors and vendors to ensure compliance with established practices and local legislation. Your responsibilities will include maintaining data center critical infrastructure equipment to ensure 99.999% uptime, adhering to safety procedures, and performing basic support tasks such as ticketing systems and root cause analysis. The work schedule may vary based on site needs, with shifts potentially lasting up to 12 hours and including on-call rotations. The role requires physical stamina, as you will regularly lift and move equipment, walk on uneven terrain, and perform construction tasks while on ladders. You will be expected to maintain balance and perform various physical activities, including climbing stairs and working above shoulder height.
