About the position

The Engineering Operations Technician (EOT) role at AWS involves maintaining and operating critical infrastructure systems within data centers to ensure optimal performance and reliability. This position is essential for supporting the operations of AWS's extensive cloud computing portfolio, working collaboratively with a diverse team to drive innovation and uphold safety standards while managing facility operations.

Responsibilities

  • Drive innovation while reducing operational costs in the facilities.
  • Assist in troubleshooting facility and rack-level events within internal Service Level Agreements (SLA).
  • Perform rack installs, rack decommissioning, operational readings, and facility management.
  • Provide key performance indicators to senior engineers.
  • Manage on-site contractors, sub-contractors, and vendors, ensuring compliance with established practices and local legislation.
  • Oversee maintenance and operations of electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment within the data center.
  • Adhere to all safety procedures while performing work.
  • Utilize ticketing systems, root cause analysis, change management, and writing procedures for building management systems.
  • Adapt work schedule based on specific site needs, with shifts up to 12 hours and potential on-call rotations.
  • Maintain data center critical infrastructure equipment ensuring 99.999% uptime.

Requirements

  • 1+ years of electrical or mechanical experience.
  • 1+ years of data center or mission critical facilities experience (e.g., hospital, military facility, public safety facility).
  • High school or equivalent diploma.
