As an Engineering Operations Technician (EOT) at Amazon Data Services, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and operating some of the world's most powerful data centers. You will work alongside teams of front-line responders who are dedicated to ensuring that our critical infrastructure systems are always prepared to handle any situation. This position is part of the AWS Infrastructure Services team, which is responsible for the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. Your work will directly contribute to the reliability and efficiency of AWS's cloud computing services, which are relied upon by customers ranging from startups to Global 500 companies. In this role, you will be tasked with driving innovation while reducing operational costs within the facilities. You will assist in troubleshooting facility and rack-level events, perform rack installations and decommissioning, and manage operational readings and facility management tasks. You will also provide key performance indicators to senior engineers and oversee the on-site management of contractors and vendors, ensuring compliance with established practices and local legislation. Safety is paramount, and you will be responsible for adhering to all safety procedures while performing your duties. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include maintaining data center critical infrastructure equipment to ensure 99.999% uptime, which is essential for the world's largest cloud computing portfolio. You will be expected to walk job sites that may have uneven terrain, perform construction tasks while on a ladder, and regularly lift and move equipment. The role may require you to support multiple locations and may involve shifts of up to 12 hours, with some locations having on-call rotations.
