About The Position

The Engineering Payroll Specialist is a vital role within the Engineering Department, primarily responsible for providing comprehensive administrative support to the operating sections. This position ensures that all administrative activities comply with departmental policies and procedures, as well as contractual labor agreements. The specialist plays a crucial role in maintaining the integrity of payroll-related matters, ensuring that all processes are executed consistently and accurately. The role involves coordinating with clerical staff to facilitate smooth administrative operations and to uphold the standards of the Engineering Department. In this position, the Engineering Payroll Specialist will coordinate the preparation of weekly payroll for various disciplines, including Signal, Communication, Track, Structures, Facilities, GCM, and Power. This includes reviewing data entries and applying appropriate work rules as necessary. The specialist will also be responsible for completing Personnel Action Reports (PARs), updating various databases such as CTAMS, MAXIMO/SMARTFORCE, and Micro Computer Reports. Additionally, the role requires ensuring that all employee schedules and job code changes are updated in accordance with departmental awards, bids, bumps, and BRS rotations. The Engineering Payroll Specialist will review, research, and resolve payroll discrepancies, ensuring that all adjustments, jury duty claims, and rule violations are handled promptly. The specialist is expected to create a professional environment that respects individual differences and fosters employee development. Furthermore, the role includes assisting management with various administrative activities within the Engineering operating departments and handling other assignments as directed by management.
