About the position

The Engineering/Planning/Surveying Technician IV position is responsible for supervising and managing field inspection coverage for various construction projects, including paving and bridge rehabilitation. The role involves ensuring compliance with design plans, materials specifications, and safety requirements, while also documenting field work and coordinating inspections. The technician must be available for overtime and emergency events, demonstrating flexibility and responsiveness to project needs.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and manage field inspection coverage for construction projects.
  • Ensure compliance with design plans, materials specifications, and safety requirements.
  • Document and report compliance or deficiencies in infrastructure inspections.
  • Design, develop, and review engineering project layouts and related activities.
  • Compile and record notes, sketches, test results, and inspection data.
  • Conduct studies to analyze needs and develop plans.
  • Perform data analysis to ensure accuracy and compliance of collected data.
  • Test and evaluate the quality of materials or designs against contracts and specifications.
  • Obtain survey data using electronic distance measuring equipment and other instruments.
  • Calculate area and volume dimensions and specifications using calculators or computers.
  • Operate computer-assisted drafting equipment and tools of the trade.
  • Read and interpret engineering documents, plans, and specifications.

Requirements

  • Three years of experience in reviewing construction plans and details.
  • Six months of experience in construction design and survey inspections.
  • Six months of experience in planning and directing inspection crews.
  • Six months of experience in developing analytical and technical documents.
  • Six months of project management experience.
  • Three years of experience using an automated information system for data management.
  • Six months of experience in contract management and compliance.
  • Knowledge of staff supervision through training or experience.
  • Possession of a valid Driver's License.
