About the position

Southern Nuclear is seeking qualified engineers to join their team, focusing on various engineering roles across their nuclear power plants. The positions include system engineers, program engineers, component engineers, design engineers, reactor engineers, digital I&C engineers, and cyber security engineers. These roles are critical in ensuring the reliability and safety of nuclear operations, supporting the development of new technologies, and maintaining compliance with industry standards. Engineers will have opportunities for project management and developmental assignments, preparing them for future supervisory and management roles.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the reliability of assigned plant systems and solve system and component problems.
  • Provide direct technical support for operation and maintenance, and plan long-term performance improvements.
  • Direct implementation of assigned programs and work processes, including fire protection and NRC Maintenance Rule compliance.
  • Prepare and coordinate designs, calculations, drawings, and schedules for plant modifications and retrofits.
  • Perform fuel inspections, physics testing, and support operations in control rod movements.
  • Ensure high-quality configuration changes to digital systems and provide technical recommendations for digital components.
  • Provide technical leadership and monitoring of the Cyber Security Program.

Requirements

  • BS in Engineering from an ABET accredited institution or PE License required.
  • 3 years of engineering experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of applicable discipline codes, standards, and regulatory requirements related to the nuclear power industry.
  • Ability to solve problems and make sound engineering decisions based on experience and industry practices.
  • Previous experience in systems engineering, programs engineering, component engineering, and design engineering preferred.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Nice-to-haves

  • PE License desired.
  • Working knowledge in PWR or BWR Systems, structures, and components preferred.
