About the position

The Senior Engineering Data Analyst at Timken plays a pivotal role in the organization and analysis of both internal and external data, aimed at generating new and impactful insights that can enhance revenue and profit. This position is critical as it leads analytic projects that focus on developing insights and understanding that can aid in strategic decision-making. The role also involves maintaining, executing, and updating key engineering business processes, ensuring that the company remains agile and responsive to market demands. Located at the World Headquarters in North Canton, Ohio, this fast-paced position requires engagement across various functions to develop and execute data analytics projects that support the company's growth objectives. In this role, the Senior Engineering Data Analyst will be responsible for developing and implementing Power BI dashboards that allow the management team to assess the effectiveness and efficiency of project execution and product vitality. The analyst will execute analyses to create and maintain dashboards for long-range forecasts and capacity planning for engineered bearings. Additionally, the analyst will provide support for capacity expansion, rationalization, and integration projects through the Plan For Every Part (PFEP) methodology. The role also involves conducting 4Ps analysis for target markets, which connects various data types including sales, gross margin, CRM, win/loss data, supply chain performance, cost, and pricing. Moreover, the analyst will perform ad-hoc product data analyses to support product strategy development, corporate projects, due diligence, and synergy cases for new acquisitions. Continuous improvement actions related to data management for corporate processes will also be recommended and implemented. Participation in gate, performance, or portfolio review meetings is expected, where the analyst will present data at the executive level to support business decisions. This role is essential for driving data-driven decision-making within the organization, ensuring that Timken remains a leader in the engineered bearings and industrial motion sectors.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement Power BI dashboards for management assessment of project effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Execute analysis to create and maintain Power BI dashboards for long-range forecast and capacity for engineered bearings.
  • Provide PFEP (Plan For Every Part) support for capacity expansion, rationalization, and integration projects.
  • Execute 4Ps analysis for target markets, connecting various data types such as sales, gross margin, CRM, win/loss, supply chain performance, cost, and pricing.
  • Perform ad-hoc product data analysis to support product strategy development, corporate projects, due diligence, and synergy cases for new acquisitions.
  • Recommend and implement continuous improvement actions related to data management for corporate processes.
  • Participate in gate, performance, or portfolio review meetings, presenting data at the executive level to support business decisions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, IT, or a similar field.
  • At least 7 years of related experience in engineering, data management, data integration, and/or IT.
  • Proficient in statistical analysis, Microsoft Office, SQL, Data Services, Power Query, Power BI, SAP, and general database structure and integration.
  • Strong analytical and process documentation skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to derive insights from data.
  • Advanced data retrieval and manipulation skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated effective project management skills.
  • Understanding of relevant business processes.
