About the position

Anyscale is seeking an Engineering Leader to manage the Ray Core team, which focuses on the development of the Ray distributed computing framework and proprietary features. This role is pivotal in guiding the vision and execution of key projects towards Ray 2.0, while building a high-performing team of distributed systems engineers. The position involves strategic leadership, team building, and collaboration with product teams to enhance the distributed computing framework.

Responsibilities

• Drive the strategy of the Anyscale Ray Core group
• Execute key projects towards Ray 2.0 and beyond
• Build a world-class team of distributed systems engineers
• Maintain a culture of collaboration within the team
• Communicate work to a broader audience through talks, tutorials, and blog posts
• Work closely with the product team to enhance the distributed computing framework
• Lead efforts in the open-source community to optimize user experience

Requirements

• Experience building core distributed systems
• Experience leading open-ended projects, preferably with a Computer Science Systems research background
• Experience with operating data/ML infrastructure in production
• Solid engineering management experience leading productive, high-performing teams
• Experience managing through other managers
• Record of helping teams scale quickly while maintaining a good culture
• Experience going from 0-1 as a founder with a strong track record of execution
• Effective communication skills
