About the position

The Engineering Project Manager at Kiewit will lead engineering projects within the Industrial & Water Engineering group, focusing on managing client relationships and ensuring project execution aligns with client expectations. This role involves overseeing multi-discipline engineering teams, managing project scopes, budgets, and schedules, and enhancing the engineering services business.

Responsibilities

  • Direct the development and oversee the implementation of the project execution plan including deliverables lists, schedule, budget, and manpower projections for engineering projects.
  • Schedule and lead project team meetings as required.
  • Coordinate client billings with the Kiewit business management team.
  • Monitor and report project progress against the execution plan, taking appropriate corrective action if progress falls behind the plan.
  • Monitor, control, and report project expenditures against the budget.
  • Oversee contract change notice management process as required.
  • Communicate project status to Kiewit Management, providing regular weekly and monthly reports.
  • Seek ways to improve customer satisfaction and operating efficiencies.
  • Lead project planning processes within the pursuit and proposal phase, collaborating with company resources and functional leadership.
  • Provide technical expertise and establish team goals aligned with project objectives through engaging communication.
  • Develop and execute a communications plan to keep team members informed of strategy, goals, and responsibilities.
  • Overall management of the project design team.
  • Engage with clients to understand operations priorities and ensure their implementation through design.
  • Identify, evaluate, and document project risks and develop mitigation plans with clients.
  • Coordinate discussions on project design and performance status with clients.
  • Work within a matrix environment to communicate and coordinate resource needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in mechanical, process, chemical, civil/structural, or electrical engineering; or related field.
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in increasingly challenging positions, preferably in an engineering organization.
  • 5+ years' experience performing engineering-related design or management within the industrial market, preferred.
  • 5+ years' experience in a consulting role, preferred.
  • Strong negotiation, presentation, and persuasion skills, along with excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience in communicating ideas and reaching resolutions with various stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage projects (scope, schedule, budget, resources) and progress ideas to execution in a complex environment.
  • Strong analytical ability to interpret data and make technical recommendations.
  • Comfortable with change and ambiguity; adaptable and collaborative.
  • Self-motivated, results-oriented, and able to coach team members.
  • Attention to detail with the ability to recognize discrepancies.
  • Ability to work well as part of a team.
