About the position

The Project Manager in the Reliability Department at Powerwell, a division of Quantam, is responsible for managing capital project activities in a safe and environmentally sound manner. This role involves interfacing with clients and contractors to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and project specifications, overseeing multiple projects with significant budgets, and providing leadership and technical expertise throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the technical integrity of the project, including compliance with the project scope, job specification, accepted good engineering design, and meeting client requirements.
  • Manage assigned plant capital project activity, handling 20 - 40 projects annually with a $10MM+ spend per year.
  • Provide plants with authoritative sources of knowledge and leadership for capital projects.
  • Ensure projects are constructed according to specifications, budget, and schedule, overseeing 30+ contractors onsite.
  • Coordinate activities of all project team members and groups.
  • Prepare bid packages and cost estimates for projects ranging from $50k - $4MM+.
  • Review and approve designs and specifications.
  • Develop and maintain the 1- and 5-year capital portfolio.
  • Manage engineering contractors as projects require, ensuring all engineering documentation is accurate and up to date.

Requirements

  • B.S. degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited university.
  • Minimum of 7 years of project engineering/project management experience.
  • Experience in a chemical manufacturing or pharmaceutical environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of unit operations and familiarity with all major engineering disciplines.
  • Developed skills in technical writing, oral communication, cost estimation, preparation of drawings, project planning, supervision of personnel, and computers (spreadsheets, word processing, CAD).
  • Familiarity with a stage gate project process to manage capital project activities.
  • Experience in managing contractor relationships.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Lotus Notes, and SAP.
  • Ability to effectively interface with manufacturing, engineering, and other functions including contractors.
