About the position

The Engineering Project Manager at Sun Chemical Corp is responsible for managing CAPEX measures and projects across the Americas region. This role involves overseeing all project phases, ensuring compliance with budget, timeline, and quality parameters, and coordinating with various internal and external stakeholders. The position requires a strong background in engineering, project management, and the ability to mentor less experienced team members.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute defined scope of CAPEX measures and projects within budget, time, quality, and safety parameters.
  • Prepare project approval documentation.
  • Carry out all project phases, from project ideas to scoping, engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and start-up.
  • Prepare relevant designs, cost estimates, time schedules, resource plans, risk analysis including HAZOP's, change orders, etc.
  • Coordinate project work with relevant interfaces such as R&D, Operations, EHS, Maintenance, Legal, M&A, Procurement, etc.
  • Ensure full compliance with internal and external best practices, guidelines, regulations, and legislations.
  • Select and functionally manage assigned project members.
  • Select and manage engineering consultants and contractors.
  • Specify and select services, machinery, equipment, etc.
  • Responsible for regular project controlling & reporting into Steering Committee/Senior Management.
  • Ensure appropriate project and technical documentation.
  • Responsible for post-completion project evaluation (KPI's, lessons learned).
  • Review, develop and update engineering processes and procedures.
  • Evaluate opportunities, carry out process studies, process optimization, troubleshooting, and safety/reliability improvements.
  • Research new manufacturing methods and technologies utilizing knowledge of product design, materials, and production equipment capabilities within quality control standards.
  • Ability to grow and mentor less experienced team members.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering.
  • 5 to 7 years' experience in project engineering or comparable technical role, preferably in chemical processing.
  • Experience with NFPA, Cost Engineering, SAP, MS Office, and AutoCAD required.
  • Able to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
