About the position

The Engineering Project Manager is responsible for overseeing the Engineering Department, which includes Templating, Drafting, and CNC Tooling. This role involves managing custom manufacturing projects, ensuring effective communication between Sales, Clients, and Production, and maintaining the quality and efficiency of engineering processes. The position requires a strong background in CAD/CAM/CNC and management experience, with a focus on delivering production-ready drawings and managing project scopes effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Gather information from all sources about finished product expectations.
  • Train team members to use designing time efficiently.
  • Standardize plans for common items such as booths, benches, and banquettes.
  • Work with CNC Operators and Frame Builders to enhance construction quality.
  • Establish effective working relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Conduct meetings with Sales to clarify project scope.
  • Meet with clients to clarify and control expectations and outcomes, including site visits as necessary.
  • Understand and manage scope creep in projects.
  • Decide when to reinvolve sales/estimating teams.
  • Schedule templating and understand template requirements.
  • Schedule drawings and CNC programming internally and with subcontract engineers.
  • Pass all corrected information to Pre-Production.
  • Maintain overall responsibility for all drawings and construction files from initial concept to final CNC-ready files.
  • Evaluate software needs and recommend the best CAD/CAM package for the company.
  • Train and develop engineering team members in software usage.
  • Liaise between clients and production for final sign-offs on production-ready drawings.
  • Ensure a minimum level of production-ready drawings to keep the CNC facility operational.
  • Act as the final point of contact for all questions from pre-production.
  • Oversee final quality control and interim quality control responsibilities.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 5+ years of CAD/CAM/CNC experience.
  • 5+ years of management experience.
  • Excellent time and task management skills.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced, multiple project environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both internally and with clients.
  • Proficient in Outlook, Excel, and able to be trained in the in-house ERP system.
  • CAD design skills are required.
