About the position

The Engineering Specialist II at Freeport-McMoRan is responsible for providing technical advice and guidance for various engineering projects, ensuring their successful completion within budget and time constraints. This role involves project management, contract administration, and collaboration in strategic planning and budgeting efforts for designated engineering areas.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical advice and guidance for all phases of assigned engineering projects and programs.
• Review, investigate, and develop recommendations regarding assigned engineering projects.
• Serve as Project Manager or Technical Advisor on small-to-medium site construction, expansion, or modification projects.
• Evaluate and administer contracts with vendors for services and equipment.
• Collaborate in site strategic planning and budgeting efforts for designated engineering areas.
• Assist in the development and evaluation of Appropriation Requests (AR) for capital funding.
• Perform other duties as required.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED and seven (7) years of engineering experience, OR a Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline and three (3) years of engineering experience.
• Ability to research and analyze information of considerable difficulty and draw valid conclusions.
• Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
• Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
